A Bartending Course Mission Can Reach on One Train
Mission City is the last station on the West Coast Express, and the line ends a short walk from our door. Seven days from beginner to certified.
One seat from the valley to the bar.
Mission City station is the eastern terminus of the West Coast Express, which means you can board at home and get off a short walk from our classroom at 319 West Pender Street without changing trains once. Students travel in from downtown Mission, Hatzic, Cedar Valley, Silverdale and Ferndale.
The 7-Day Commercial Bartending Course is designed for beginners. You learn the recipes, the tools, accurate pouring and the pace of real service, and you finish with the Fine Art Commercial Bartender Certificate. For a valley town where bar training is hard to come by locally, seven days is a manageable trade-off.
Getting to class from Mission.
The West Coast Express from Mission City runs into Waterfront in around 75 minutes, no transfers, and our door is about a ten-minute walk from the station. It is a weekday commuter service running inbound in the morning and back out in the afternoon, so it suits morning classes best.
Driving in on Highway 7 or crossing to Highway 1 at Abbotsford takes roughly 80 to 100 minutes without traffic and a good deal longer with it, plus paid parking at the other end. Most Mission students who drive go as far as a park and ride in the Tri-Cities or Surrey and take transit from there. If the daily trip does not work for you, it is worth pricing a week's accommodation in the city. Students from the eastern valley regularly do that rather than spend three hours a day travelling, and it turns the course into a single focused week.

Our Classroom Is a Real Bar.
There is no simulation involved. You work behind a real 22-foot bar at your own fully stocked station, using the same tools, bottles and glassware you will find in a working room. Because the classes are deliberately small, you get corrected in the moment instead of hearing about it at the end of the day.

Questions about the course.
Still deciding? Here are the things students most often ask before they sign up.
Do I need any experience?
None at all. The course is built for complete beginners, most students walk in having never made a cocktail. By Day 1 you're already pouring and building drinks behind the bar.
Do I have to memorise every recipe?
No, that's what the 7 days are for. Once you learn the ratio system on Day 2, you understand how drinks are built instead of memorising each one. By the exam, the key recipes are second nature.
What if I don't pass the exam on Day 7?
Unlimited free retakes are included in your $799, for life. There's no fee and no expiration. Plenty of students retake to sharpen up; it's a normal part of learning.
Do you use real alcohol in class?
No. We practise with coloured water so you can make 50+ drinks per class and focus on technique, recipes and speed, without anyone drinking on the job.
Will this actually help me get a job?
That's the goal. You finish with a recognised Commercial Bartender Certificate, a reviewed resume, interview prep, and access to our Vancouver Bartender Job Board where employers post openings.
Do I need Serving It Right (SIR) too?
SIR is a separate ~$35 BC government certificate to serve alcohol on the job. It's not part of our course (and isn't needed to attend, since we don't use real alcohol), but we recommend completing it before you start applying.
