Learn About How We Recruit Bartenders
Questions we get from bar managers looking for talent from our network.
How job-ready are your graduates, really?
Every graduate has completed 25+ hours behind our 22-foot training bar — pours, shakes, stirs, garnishes, POS, and customer service — plus a final practical exam. They won't have your specific menu memorised, but they'll have the fundamentals down, which means your onboarding is about your venue, not about how to hold a shaker.
How fast can I expect applicants?
Listings go live within 24 hours, and if you opt in, we push your role by email to our email list of graduates the same week. A new cohort graduates every two weeks, so the candidate pool refreshes constantly. We provide you the top candidates after your application deadline.
Do your graduates have Serving It Right?
Serving It Right is BC's mandatory responsible-service certification and it's separate from our program. All candidates have it before they apply for a job.
Do you take a placement fee or commission?
No. There's no fee to post, no commission on hires, and no recruiter sitting in the middle. Candidates apply directly to you, you run your own process, and the hire is yours. We run the board as a service to our graduates and Vancouver's hospitality community.
What do they learn in the program?
The Commercial Bartending Program covers pours, shakes, stirs, garnishes, POS, and customer service — 25+ hours of hands-on practice behind our 22-foot training bar, capped with a practical exam. You can review the full syllabus here to see exactly what your applicants have been trained on.
