Maple Ridge to a Real Training Bar on the West Coast Express
One train, no transfers, about 50 minutes. Seven days from complete beginner to certified bartender.
The commuter train nobody thinks about.
Maple Ridge has something most of the region does not: a train that runs straight into Waterfront Station with no transfers. Port Haney and Maple Meadows both sit on the West Coast Express, and our school at 319 West Pender Street is a short walk from the far end. Students come in from Haney, Albion, Silver Valley, Hammond, Websters Corners and Whonnock.
The 7-Day Commercial Bartending Course is built for people starting with nothing. You learn the standard recipes, accurate pouring, the four core mixing methods and how to hold a rhythm behind a busy bar, then earn the Fine Art Commercial Bartender Certificate. Seven days is a short commitment for a skill you keep.
Getting to class from Maple Ridge.
The West Coast Express from Port Haney or Maple Meadows runs into Waterfront in roughly 50 minutes, with no transfers at all. From Waterfront it is about a ten-minute walk up to 319 West Pender. It is a weekday commuter service running inbound in the morning and outbound in the afternoon, so check the direction against your class times.
When the train does not suit, the 701 runs to Coquitlam Central where you can pick up the Millennium Line and change at Commercial–Broadway for the Expo Line. Allow about an hour and a half. Driving over the Golden Ears or Pitt River Bridge and in on the Lougheed takes around an hour off-peak and considerably more at rush hour.

Our Classroom Is a Real Bar.
There is no simulation involved. You work behind a real 22-foot bar at your own fully stocked station, using the same tools, bottles and glassware you will find in a working room. Because the classes are deliberately small, you get corrected in the moment instead of hearing about it at the end of the day.

Questions about the course.
Still deciding? Here are the things students most often ask before they sign up.
Do I need any experience?
None at all. The course is built for complete beginners, most students walk in having never made a cocktail. By Day 1 you're already pouring and building drinks behind the bar.
Do I have to memorise every recipe?
No, that's what the 7 days are for. Once you learn the ratio system on Day 2, you understand how drinks are built instead of memorising each one. By the exam, the key recipes are second nature.
What if I don't pass the exam on Day 7?
Unlimited free retakes are included in your $799, for life. There's no fee and no expiration. Plenty of students retake to sharpen up; it's a normal part of learning.
Do you use real alcohol in class?
No. We practise with coloured water so you can make 50+ drinks per class and focus on technique, recipes and speed, without anyone drinking on the job.
Will this actually help me get a job?
That's the goal. You finish with a recognised Commercial Bartender Certificate, a reviewed resume, interview prep, and access to our Vancouver Bartender Job Board where employers post openings.
Do I need Serving It Right (SIR) too?
SIR is a separate ~$35 BC government certificate to serve alcohol on the job. It's not part of our course (and isn't needed to attend, since we don't use real alcohol), but we recommend completing it before you start applying.
