A 7-Day Bartending Course Worth the Trip From Langley
One week of hands-on training behind a real bar, then a certificate you can use anywhere in the Fraser Valley or the city.
Langley's Route into a Bar Career
Langley is the furthest out of the communities we regularly train, and people still make the trip, because seven days is a short commitment for a skill you keep. Our school is at 319 West Pender Street in downtown Vancouver. Students come in from Willowbrook, Walnut Grove, Murrayville, Brookswood, Fort Langley and Aldergrove, most of them pairing a short drive with the train.
The 7-Day Commercial Bartending Course does not assume any experience. You learn the recipes, the tools, the pours and the rhythm of a busy bar, then earn the Fine Art Commercial Bartender Certificate. Trinity Western and Kwantlen Langley students, Fraser Valley servers and people moving out of retail make up much of the class.
Getting to Class from Langley
There is no SkyTrain in Langley yet, so the practical route is a park and ride. Drive to Carvolth Exchange in Walnut Grove, leave the car, and take the 555 express across the Port Mann to Lougheed Town Centre, then the SkyTrain downtown. It is a long ride, but it is one you can read or sleep through instead of sitting in a bridge queue.
The other common approach is driving to Surrey Central or King George and taking the Expo Line from there, which is often quicker outside peak hours. Driving the whole way on Highway 1 takes about an hour and fifteen minutes with clear roads and considerably longer without them, plus paid parking at the other end.
The Surrey to Langley SkyTrain extension is under construction and will shorten this trip once it opens. Until then, the park and ride is the reliable option.

Bartending Jobs Near Langley
You do not have to work in the city to use this. The Willowbrook corridor is dense with restaurants and pubs, Fort Langley's heritage strip runs a handful of well-regarded rooms, and the Township's wineries, cideries and craft breweries all need people who can pour properly and talk about what they are pouring. The Langley Events Centre and the wedding venues scattered through the Township add regular banquet and event shifts.
Fraser Valley employers tend to hire locally and keep people a long time, which is good news once you are in. A certificate is often what gets a first-timer past the point where a manager would otherwise say come back when you have experience. Our bartender job board, resume template and interview support cover the rest.
A certificate gives you a real edge when you apply to bartending jobs in Langley.

Our Classroom Is a Real Bar
There is no simulation involved. You work behind a real 22-foot bar at your own fully stocked station, using the same tools, bottles and glassware you will find in a working room. Because the classes are deliberately small, you get corrected in the moment instead of hearing about it at the end of the day.
Modern, Hands-On Curriculum
This is a practical trade and the week is weighted that way, with about two-thirds of your time on your feet at a station. We revise the manual regularly so what you learn reflects what is genuinely being ordered right now, not a drink list that stopped being accurate a decade ago.
What Langley Students Ask
The questions we hear most from Langley.
Do I need experience?
None at all. The course is built for complete beginners. Most students walk in having never made a cocktail. On Day 1 you're already pouring and building drinks behind the bar.
Do I need Serving It Right?
SIR is a separate ~$35 BC government certificate to serve alcohol on the job. It's not part of our course (and isn't needed to attend, since we don't use real alcohol), but we recommend completing it before you start applying.
Will this help me get a bartending job?
That's the goal. You finish with a recognized Commercial Bartender Certificate, a reviewed resume, interview prep, and access to our Vancouver Bartender Job Board where employers post openings.
Is there a bartending course in Langley?
Not one of ours. Fine Art Bartending School runs a single location, at 319 West Pender Street, Unit 10 in downtown Vancouver. Langley students usually drive to a park and ride at Carvolth, Surrey Central or King George and take transit the rest of the way.
What is the best way to get downtown from Langley without driving the whole way?
Park at Carvolth Exchange in Walnut Grove and take the 555 express over the Port Mann to Lougheed Town Centre, then the SkyTrain downtown. Allow around 90 minutes. Driving to Surrey Central or King George and riding the Expo Line is often quicker outside rush hour.
Can I fit the course into a week off work?
That is how most out-of-town students do it. The course runs seven days and the exact dates are on the class calendar, so you can book a week that works and treat it as one block. Retakes afterwards are free and unlimited, so you can come back and practise any time.
