A Bartending Course Worth the Drive From Hope
Come in for one week, leave certified. Seven days behind a real 22-foot bar, and free retakes for life afterwards.
Treat It as One Week, Not a Commute
Hope is about 150 kilometres from our classroom at 319 West Pender Street, which puts a daily commute out of reach for most people. That is fine, because the course is seven days and most of our students from this far out simply come in and stay. It is one week of your life for a trade you will still have in twenty years.
The 7-Day Commercial Bartending Course begins with the fundamentals and does not skip them. You cover the standard recipes, the four core mixing methods, accurate pouring and how to hold your pace behind a busy bar, and you leave with the Fine Art Commercial Bartender Certificate. Retakes afterwards are free and unlimited, so the trip is a one-time cost.
Getting to Class from Hope
Driving in on Highway 1 takes about two hours in clear conditions, and winter can add to that considerably. There is no direct transit from Hope, so the practical options are driving the whole way, or driving to Chilliwack or Abbotsford and picking up the Fraser Valley Express toward Langley and the SkyTrain.
Because the course runs seven consecutive days, doing that trip twice a day is not realistic for most people. Four hours of driving on top of a full day of class does not leave much of you for the class. So plan for a week in the city. Book your accommodation before you book the course, so you know the real cost up front. Tell us your class dates and we can point you toward the parts of town that are easiest to reach our door from. Once you are here, everything is walkable or one SkyTrain stop away.
Ask us about class dates before you arrange anything. We will tell you exactly which seven days you need to be here.

Bartending Jobs Near Hope
Hope is a small town on a big highway, and its hospitality reflects that. The restaurants, pubs and motels along Wallace Street and the highway corridor serve a constant stream of travellers, and the summer tourism around the Othello Tunnels, Manning Park and the Fraser Canyon lifts demand every year. Harrison Hot Springs is under an hour away and staffs a resort.
In a town this size, one properly trained bartender stands out. Managers here rarely have the time or the staff to train someone from scratch, so turning up with a certificate genuinely changes the conversation. Our bartender job board, resume template and interview coaching are yours once you graduate.
A certificate is not a job guarantee, and we will never pretend otherwise. It does give you a real edge when you apply.

Our Classroom Is a Real Bar
Nothing here is theoretical. Each student takes a fully stocked station along a real 22-foot bar, with proper tools, bottles, ice and glassware, and spends the week using them. Small class sizes mean an instructor is close enough to see what your hands are doing and fix it while it still matters.
Modern, Hands-On Curriculum
You spend around two-thirds of the week actually making drinks, because that is the only way the muscle memory sticks. Our manual gets reviewed and updated on a regular cycle so the recipes match what today's bars pour, classics included.
Hope, Answered
The questions we hear most from Hope.
Do I need experience?
None at all. The course is built for complete beginners. Most students walk in having never made a cocktail. On Day 1 you're already pouring and building drinks behind the bar.
Do I need Serving It Right?
SIR is a separate ~$35 BC government certificate to serve alcohol on the job. It's not part of our course (and isn't needed to attend, since we don't use real alcohol), but we recommend completing it before you start applying.
Will this help me get a bartending job?
That's the goal. You finish with a recognized Commercial Bartender Certificate, a reviewed resume, interview prep, and access to our Vancouver Bartender Job Board where employers post openings.
Can I take a bartending course near Hope?
Not locally. Fine Art Bartending School has one location, at 319 West Pender Street, Unit 10 in downtown Vancouver. It is about a two-hour drive, and most students from Hope come in and stay for the seven days.
Do I need to stay in Vancouver for the whole week?
Most people from Hope do. The course runs seven consecutive days, and four hours of driving on top of a full class day is a lot to ask of yourself. Book accommodation before you book the class so you know the total cost.
What if I cannot get all seven days off at once?
Talk to us. Class dates are published on the calendar, and retakes are free and unlimited for life, so there is flexibility if something comes up partway through.
